Tuna, Bacon, Cheese and Avocado? Sign me up!

We made this 50’s diner-inspired open face tuna melt in our new Pizza & More oven. When we say Pizza & More, this is what we mean by more! Not only can you make delicious, hot, and crispy pizza, but there are a bounty of other items that cook perfectly in the Pizza & More oven. Things like; an open-faced melted sandwich, nachos, chicken wings, cheese sticks, taquitos, chicken tenders, cookies, cinnamon rolls, pigs in a blanket, stuffed jalapenos… the list goes on and on.

Because the Pizza & More oven does not require preheating, food takes much less time to get hot and crispy than in your oven. And honestly, it never gets crispy in the microwave.pizza-more-pizza-oven

So why not put on some Elvis, make yourself a soda pop and this open faced tuna melt and have yourself a 50’s shindig right at home?

Open Faced Bacon and Avocado Tuna Melt

  • 1 (12-ounce) can of tuna in water, drained and flaked in small mixing bowl
  • ½ tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons finely mined red onionimg_1680-copy
  • 1 stalk of celery, finely minced
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1-tablespoon course grain mustard
  • ½ teaspoon celery salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon white pepper
  • 4 slices your favorite sandwich bread
  • 4 precooked bacon slices, halved
  • 1 avocado, thinly sliced
  • 4 slices hickory smoked cheddar cheese


  1. In a mixing bowl, add minced lemon juice, onion, minced celery, mayonnaise and course grain mustard to drained and flaked tuna. Stir to incorporate all ingredients.
  2. Add in celery salt, garlic powder, and white pepper. Stir to incorporate
  3. Place the 4 slices of bread onto your Ronco Pizza & More pan. Top with equal parts of tuna salad.
  4. Top the tuna with one slice of precooked bacon (cut in half), and one slice of hickory smoked cheddar cheese.
  5. Place pan into pizza oven and cook for 4-6 minutes until cheese is hot and bubbly.getting-melty
  6. Remove from Pizza & More oven and top with 1/4 Avocado sliced and serve warm.open-faced-tuna-melt
