Cinnamon Sweetened Apple
Dehydrating Fruit – Want a healthy alternative to processed snacks this summer? Dehydrating fruit makes for a fun and portable alternative to feed your snack tooth throughout the year.  The fresh and delicious fruit available now makes for wonderful dehydrated fruits that can be used for snacks or as a delicious addition to salads and many other recipes throughout the year.  Possibilities for using your food dehydrator are endless.  Fit Day ranked apples as the healthiest fruit to dehydrate – and here is a delicious dehydrated apple recipe that gets a boost from the immunity system builder, honey, and super spice, cinnamon.

Cinnamon Sweetened Apples

• 6 apples, any variety
• 3-4 tablespoons honey
• 2 tsp lemon juice
• dashes of cinnamon

Peel and thinly slice apples. Toss apple slices with honey, lemon juice (to prevent browning), and cinnamon.
Place the apple slices on the dehydrator trays so they are not touching. Dehydration time will depend on how thick your apple slices are…thinner slices will take less time to dehydrate. Set your dried apples out on the counter, serve alone or with cheese slices and they will be gone before you know it!
Juice - Beet, Apple, Carrot, Ginger

Juice – Having a quality juicer at home allows you to make truly healthy juices that combine the best of the farmers market. Combining organic fruits and vegetables in a juice offers a nutrient rich, delicious drink option to start off your day the right way.  Here is one recipe that is packed with tasty and nutritious flavors.

Apple, Beet & Carrot Juice

• 6 carrots – whole, topped
• 2 raw beets – whole, topped
• 1½ cups raw kale
• 3 sups spinach
• 2 apples

Wash all fruits and vegetables well. Cut the ends off of the carrots and cut in half before juicing them. Use the Ronco Smart Juicer to process the apple, beets, and carrots. Transfer to a large jug and stir to combine. Serve immediately.
These four options are only the tip of the fruit basket! What fruit and veggie recipes are you using this summer?
