Thanks to Aussie’s Paul Hogan for his saying “throw another shrimp on the barbie” which helped put barbecues in the spotlight!

Yes, for those of you curious- barbie is a term for barbecues.

Shrimp are easy to cook with and have countless recipes that are deliciously wonderful!  They are great on their own for a quick appetizer or paired with a main course dish. Australians cook the prawn in its shell to retain the moisture and then shell it once it is cooked.

Basil Garlic Shrimp:

1 lb. large shrimp
1/2 cup olive oil
1/2 cup lemon juice
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. sea salt
fresh ground pepper
2 tsp. dried basil

  • Add olive oil, lemon juice, basil, garlic, sea salt, and fresh ground pepper to a large mixing bowl.
  • Roast prawns in the rotisserie basket for a few minutes (under 5)
  • Once cooled, shell the shrimp and dip in the yummy garlic basil oil.
